దేశ రాజకీయాల్లో ధన ప్రభావం పెరిగి ప్రజాస్వామిక స్ఫూర్తికి ప్రమాదకర పరిస్థితులు తలెత్తుతున్నాయని ముఖ్యమంత్రి శ్రీ రేవంత్ రెడ్డి గారు ఆందోళన వ్యక్తం చేశారు. ధన ప్రభావం తగ్గి విలువలతో కూడిన సిద్ధాంతపరమైన రాజకీయాలు ఉండాలని చెప్పారు. ఈనాడు సిద్ధాంతపరమైన రాజకీయాలు కాకుండా ఎవరెంత వేగంగా డెలివరీ చేస్తారన్న ‘స్విగ్గీ పాలిటిక్స్’ తెరమీదకొచ్చాయని, ఇది ప్రజాస్వామ్యానికి ప్రమాదకర పరిణామమని అన్నారు.
హైదరాబాద్లో క్యాపిటల్ ఫౌండేషన్ సొసైటీ, ICFAI సంయుక్త ఆధ్వర్యంలో ఏర్పాటు చేసిన కార్యక్రమంలో ఉత్తమ పార్లమెంటేరియన్ స్వర్గీయ సూదిని జైపాల్ రెడ్డి పేరిట నెలకొల్పిన స్మారక అవార్డును ముఖ్యమంత్రి గారి చేతుల మీదుగా ప్రముఖ రచయిత, మోహన్ గురుస్వామి గారికి అందించారు.
ఈ సందర్భంగా ముఖ్యమంత్రి గారు మాట్లాడుతూ, “జైపాల్ రెడ్డి గారు విద్యార్థి నాయకుడిగా, శాసనసభ్యుడిగా, పార్లమెంట్ సభ్యుడిగా, కేంద్ర మంత్రిగా.. వివిధ హోదాల్లో ప్రాతినిధ్యం వహించి సుదీర్ఘంగా సిద్ధాంతపరమైన రాజకీయాలు చేశారు.
1984 లో పార్లమెంట్లో అడుగుపెట్టినప్పటి నుంచి 35 ఏళ్లు వెనుదిరిగి చూడకుండా దేశ రాజకీయాల్లో రాణించారు. 1969 లో అడుగుపెట్టి 50 సంవత్సరాలు 2019 చివరి శ్వాస వరకు ప్రజల పక్షాన, ప్రజా సమస్యల పరిష్కారానికి, దేశ విధివిధానాలను అమలు చేయడంలోనే కృషి చేశారు.
పెట్రోలియం శాఖ మంత్రి గా ఉన్నప్పుడు తీసుకున్న కీలక నిర్ణయాలు, అలాగే సమాచార శాఖ మంత్రిగా ఉన్నప్పుడు ప్రసార భారత చట్టాన్ని, ప్రజాస్వామ్యాన్ని, ప్రతిపక్ష గళాన్ని వినిపించే విధంగా ఒక బలమైన చట్టాన్ని తీసుకొచ్చారు. ప్రజాస్వామ్యంలో ప్రతిపక్షాలకు, పత్రికలకు కీలకమైన పాత్ర పోషించే అవకాశం కల్పించారు.
తెలంగాణ నుంచి దేశ రాజకీయాల్లో జైపాల్ రెడ్డి గారు బలమైన ముద్ర వేశారు. జైపాల్ రెడ్డి గారికి రాజకీయ ప్రత్యర్థులే గానీ శత్రువులు ఎవరూ లేరు. సిద్ధాంతపరమైన రాజకీయాలే తప్ప వారు ఏనాడూ పదవులను ఆశించలేదు. ఉత్తమ పార్లమెంటేరియన్ అవార్డును అందుకుని ఈ ప్రాంతానికే గౌరవం తీసుకొచ్చారు. తెలంగాణ నుంచి గొప్పగా రాణించిన స్వర్గీయ పీవీ నరసింహారావు గారు, తర్వాత జైపాల్ రెడ్డి గారు చట్ట సభల్లో ఈ ప్రాంతానికి గుర్తింపు తెచ్చారు.
ఈరోజు తెలంగాణ రాష్ట్ర ఏర్పాటులో జైపాల్ రెడ్డి గారి పాత్ర విస్మరించలేనిది. వారు లేకపోతే తెలంగాణ వచ్చి ఉండేది కాదు. వారి సమయస్ఫూర్తి, అనుభవం, ఉభయ సభల్లో బిల్లును ఆమోదింప జేయడంలో అత్యంత కీలక పాత్ర పోషించారు. రాజ్యసభలో సవరణలు ప్రతిపాదించినప్పుడు గాని, కేంద్ర కేబినేట్లో గాని జైపాల్ రెడ్డి గారు చూపించిన చొరవ మరువలేనిది.
సిద్ధాంతపరమైన రాజకీయాలకు సిద్ధాంతాలను నమ్మేవారు, పాటించేవారు, సిద్ధాంతాల కోసమే పనిచేసే వాళ్లు దేశ రాజకీయాల్లో తగ్గుతూ వస్తున్నారు. ఇది దేశానికి, ప్రజాస్వామిక స్పూర్తికి ప్రమాదకరం. దేశం వేగంగా ప్రమాదం వైపు పయనిస్తుంది. ప్రజాస్వామిక విలువలు తగ్గి పొలిటికల్ మేనేజ్మెంట్లు, పొలిటికల్ మేనేజర్స్ ఎక్కువయ్యారు. కార్యకర్తలు పోయి వాలంటీర్స్ వచ్చారు. కార్యకర్తలు లేని రాజకీయాలు దేశ భవిష్యత్తుకు ప్రమాదకరం.
యూనివర్సిటీల్లో సిద్ధాంతపరమైన విద్యార్థి రాజకీయాలు రావలసిన అవసరం ఉంది. దేశ రాజకీయాల్లో ధన ప్రభావం తగ్గాలి. వ్యక్తిగత రాజకీయాలకంటే సిద్ధాంతపరమైన భిన్నాభిప్రాయాలు ఉండే రాజకీయాలు ప్రజాస్వామిక విలువలను కాపాడుతుంది.
రాజనీతిజ్ఞుడు పీవీ నరసింహారావు గారు, జైపాల్ రెడ్డి గారి స్ఫూర్తి తెలంగాణ రాజకీయాల్లో ఉండాలి. వారి స్ఫూర్తితో అభివృద్ధి, సంక్షేమాన్ని సమతూకం చేసుకుంటూ ప్రభుత్వాన్ని నడిపిస్తాం…” అని అన్నారు. జైపాల్ రెడ్డి గారి పేరిట క్యాపిటల్ ఫౌండేషన్ సొసైటీ నెలకొల్పిన అవార్డు గ్రహీతలను ఈ సందర్భంగా ముఖ్యమంత్రి గారు అభినందించారు.
అంతకు ముందు సదస్సులో ‘భారత్ పార్లమెంటరీ ప్రజాస్వామ్యం ముందున్న సవాళ్లు’ అన్న అంశంపై రాజ్యసభ సభ్యుడు డాక్టర్ సస్మిత్ పాత్ర గారు ప్రసంగించారు. కార్యక్రమంలో Capital foundation Society ఎగ్జిక్యూటివ్ ప్రసిడెంట్ ప్రొఫెసర్ పురుశోత్తం రెడ్డి గారు, ICFAI చైర్ పర్సన్ యశస్వీ శోభారాణి గారు, వైస్ చాన్సెలర్ ప్రొఫెసర్ ఎల్ఎస్ గణేష్ గారితో పాటు ఇతర ప్రముఖులు పాల్గొన్నారు.
Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri A. Revanth Reddy expressed deep concern over the growing influence of money in Indian politics, warning that it poses a serious threat to the democratic spirit. He remarked that instead of ideological politics based on values, a trend of “Swiggy Politics” — where parties focus on delivering instant results rather than standing by principles — is emerging, which he described as a dangerous development for the future of democracy.
The Chief Minister was speaking at the S. Jaipal Reddy Memorial Award Ceremony, jointly organized by Capital Foundation Society and ICFAI in Hyderabad. He presented the memorial award instituted in the name of Late Shri S. Jaipal Reddy, widely respected as one of India’s finest parliamentarians.
In his address, the Chief Minister paid rich tributes to Jaipal Reddy garu, highlighting his decades-long commitment to ideological politics. From being a student leader to a Union Minister, Jaipal Reddy garu never deviated from his values. Entering Parliament in 1984, he served for 35 years with distinction, and from his political debut in 1969 till his passing in 2019, he remained dedicated to public service and democratic principles.
As Petroleum and Information Minister, he played a key role in bringing legislative reforms — including a stronger Broadcasting Act that ensured space for dissent and the voice of the opposition in a democratic setup.
“Jaipal Reddy garu left an indelible mark on Indian politics, especially from Telangana. He had no political enemies and never chased power. By winning the Best Parliamentarian Award, he brought immense respect to our region. Just like the legacy of PV Narasimha Rao garu, Jaipal Reddy garu too gave Telangana a place of pride in the nation’s legislative history,” said the Chief Minister.
Highlighting Jaipal Reddy’s pivotal role in the formation of Telangana, CM Revanth Reddy stated, “His experience and commitment were instrumental in ensuring the Telangana Bill passed in both houses of Parliament. His contributions in the Rajya Sabha and within the Union Cabinet were decisive and unforgettable.”
He expressed regret that the space for ideological politics is rapidly shrinking, replaced by transactional politics driven by money and personal rivalries. “Political activists have disappeared; now political managers and volunteers dominate the landscape. This shift is a threat to democracy,” he said.
The Chief Minister emphasized the urgent need to revive ideological student politics in universities and reduce the dominance of money in political life. “Only politics rooted in ideology — not personalities — can safeguard democratic values,” he asserted.
He concluded by stating that the legacy of PV Narasimha Rao garu and Jaipal Reddy garu should guide politics in Telangana, and pledged to lead the state by balancing development with welfare, drawing inspiration from their ideals.
Earlier, Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Sasmita Patra addressed the gathering on the theme ‘Challenges Ahead of Indian Parliamentary Democracy’. Also present at the event were Capital Foundation Society Executive President Prof. Purushottam Reddy, ICFAI Chairperson Yashasvi Shobharani, Vice Chancellor Prof. LS Ganesh, and other distinguished guests.
