సుదీర్ఘ కాలం తర్వాత హైదరాబాద్ నడిబొడ్డున ఉన్న ఎల్బీ స్టేడియం మళ్లీ క్రీడాస్ఫూర్తికి వేదికగా ప్రజాప్రతినిధుల సందడితో కోలాహళంగా మారింది. నాయకులు ఆరోగ్యంగా ఉన్నప్పుడే రాష్ట్రం ఆరోగ్యంగా ఉంటుందన్న “Fit Leaders – Fit State” సందేశంతో “తెలంగాణ లెజిస్లేటర్స్ స్పోర్ట్స్, కల్చరల్ మీట్ – మొదటి ఎడిషన్” క్రీడలు ఆద్యంతం ఉత్సాహభరితంగా ప్రారంభమయ్యాయి.
బడ్జెట్ సమావేశాల సందర్భంగా నిర్వహించే శాసనమండలి, శాసనసభ సభ్యులకు 14 సంవత్సరాలుగా నిలిచిపోయిన క్రీడా సంప్రదాయాన్ని ముఖ్యమంత్రి శ్రీ రేవంత్ రెడ్డి గారు తిరిగి ప్రారంభించారు. ప్రారంభించడమే కాకుండా సహచర మంత్రులు, ప్రజాప్రతినిధులతో కలిసి పలు క్రీడల్లో పాల్గొని క్రీడాస్ఫూర్తిని కలిగించారు.
శాసనమండలి చైర్మన్ గుత్తా సుఖేందర్ రెడ్డి గారు, శాసనసభ స్పీకర్ గడ్డం ప్రసాద్ కుమార్ గారు, ఉప ముఖ్యమంత్రి మల్లు భట్టి విక్రమార్క గారు, మంత్రులు, ఎమ్మెల్సీలు, ఎమ్మెల్యేలు, ఇతర క్రీడాకారులు పెద్దఎత్తున పాల్గొన్నారు. ఈ సందర్భంగా ముఖ్యమంత్రి గారు మాట్లాడుతూ..
“ఎల్బీ స్టేడియంకు గొప్ప చరిత్ర ఉంది. ప్రపంచంలోనే పేరుగాంచిన క్రీడాకారులు ఈ మైదానంలో ఆడటమే కాకుండా శిక్షణ పొందారు. ఈ స్టేడియంను అంతర్జాతీయ ప్రమాణాలతో అత్యద్భుతంగా తీర్చిదిద్దుతాం. అలాగే గచ్చీబౌలిలో ఉన్న క్రీడా మైదానాలను 700 కోట్ల రూపాయలతో ప్రపంచస్థాయి క్రీడా వసతులతో అభివృద్ధి చేస్తాం.
గచ్చీబౌలీలో 2034 ఒలింపిక్స్ నిర్వహించే విధంగా ప్రణాళికలు సిద్ధం చేశాం. 3 నెలల్లో అక్కడ పనులను ప్రారంభించబోతున్నాం. వచ్చే మూడేళ్లలో క్రీడలన్నింటినీ గచ్చీబౌలి క్రీడా మైదానాల్లో నిర్వహించే విధంగా నిర్ణయాలు తీసుకుంటున్నాం. బేగంపేట హాకీ మైదానాన్ని కూడా అభివృద్ధి చేస్తాం.
1950-60 దశకంలో మొట్టమొదటిసారి ఫుట్ బాల్ లో భారత్ 4వ స్థానంలో నిలిచింది. ఆనాడు 7 మంది క్రీడాకారులు హైదరాబాద్ నగరానికి చెందినవారే ప్రాతినిథ్యం వహించారు. ఒకప్పుడు హాకీ, ఫుట్బాల్, క్రికెట్ మన రాష్ట్రానికి నగరానికి పేరు ప్రఖ్యాతులు తెచ్చాయి. ఇప్పుడు క్రీడల్లో వెనకబడ్డాం. యువతీయువకుల్లో క్రీడాస్ఫూర్తిని కలిగిస్తూ క్రీడారంగాన్ని అభివృద్ధి చేయాలన్న సంకల్పంతో ప్రభుత్వం ముందుకు పోతోంది.
తెలంగాణ ఏర్పడిన తర్వాత క్రీడలు పూర్తిగా కనుమరుగయ్యాయి. మంచి పాలన అందించాలంటే ప్రభుత్వానికి విధివిధానాలు ఉండాలి. అందుకే ప్రజా ప్రభుత్వం ఏర్పడిన తర్వాత క్రీడా పాలసీని తీసుకొచ్చాం. గ్రామీణ ప్రాంతాల్లో మట్టిలోని మాణిక్యాలను వెలికితీయాలని గ్రామస్థాయి నుంచి రాష్ట్ర స్థాయి వరకు సీఎం కప్ పోటీలను నిర్వహించాం.
140 కోట్ల జనాభా కలిగి ఉన్నప్పటికీ దేశం నుంచి ఎంట్రీ స్థాయిలో కూడా క్వాలిఫై కాలేకపోతున్నాం. ఒలింపిక్స్లో సౌత్ కొరియా 32 పతకాలు సాధిస్తే, అందులో 13 గోల్డ్ మెడల్స్ అక్కడి స్పోర్ట్స్ యూనివర్సిటీ దక్కించుకుంది. దక్షిణ కొరియాకు ఉన్న పట్టుదల మనకు లేకపోవడం ప్రతి ఒక్కరూ ఆలోచించాలి.
క్రీడాస్పూర్తిని పెంచాలన్న ఉద్దేశంతోనే ప్రపంచ ఫుట్బాల్ దిగ్గడం మెస్సీని హైదరాబాద్కు ఆహ్వానించాం. క్రీడల్లో రాణించే విద్యార్థినీ విద్యార్థులను ప్రభుత్వం గుర్తించి గౌరవిస్తుంది. క్రీడలపైన ఆసక్తి పెంచుకోవాలి. రాణించాలి..” అని ముఖ్యమంత్రి గారు చెప్పారు.
అనంతరం పలు క్రీడాపోటీలను నిర్వహించారు. ఫుట్బాల్ మ్యాచ్ లో ముఖ్యమంత్రి గారు స్వయంగా పాల్గొని అందరిలో ఉత్సాహాన్ని నింపారు.
After a long hiatus, the LB Stadium in the heart of Hyderabad has once again come alive as a vibrant hub of sporting activity, filled with energy and enthusiasm. Guided by the inspiring motto “Fit Leaders – Fit State,” underscoring that a healthy state begins with healthy leadership, the “Telangana Legislators Sports and Cultural Meet – 1st Edition” commenced on a spirited note.
Hon’ble Chief Minister Sri A. Revanth Reddy revived this sporting tradition after a gap of 14 years. Traditionally held for members of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly during the Budget Sessions, the event was not only inaugurated by the Chief Minister, but he also actively participated in various sports alongside his cabinet colleagues and fellow representatives, exemplifying true sportsmanship.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from Hon’ble Legislative Council Chairman Gutha Sukhender Reddy, Hon’ble Legislative Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, along with Hon’ble ministers, MLCs, MLAs, and sports enthusiasts. Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said:
“LB Stadium has a rich and distinguished history. Renowned athletes from across the world have competed and trained here. We are committed to developing this stadium into a world-class facility that meets international standards. Additionally, the sports complexes in Gachibowli will be upgraded with an investment of ₹700 crores to provide world-class infrastructure.
We have drawn up plans with a long-term vision to host the 2034 Olympics in Gachibowli, and work in this direction will begin within the next three months. Over the next three years, major sporting events will be hosted at the Gachibowli sports complexes. The Begumpet Hockey Stadium will also be taken up for development.
In the 1950s and 60s, India achieved a historic fourth-place finish in football, with seven players from Hyderabad representing the country. Sports such as hockey, football, and cricket once brought great recognition to our state. Over time, however, we have fallen behind. The government is now committed to revitalizing the sports ecosystem and fostering a strong sporting culture among the youth.
Following the formation of Telangana, sporting activity had declined. Recognizing the need for a structured approach, the government introduced a comprehensive Sports Policy. To identify and nurture talent from grassroots levels, ‘CM Cup’ competitions were organized from the village level to the state level.
Despite having a population of 1.4 billion, we often struggle to excel at the global level. Countries like South Korea have achieved remarkable success, with a significant number of Olympic medals coming from their sports universities. There is a need for collective introspection and stronger commitment towards sports.
We invited global football legend Messi to Hyderabad to inspire a sporting culture. The government recognizes and encourages students who excel in sports. Youth must develop interest and strive for excellence,” the Chief Minister stated.
Various competitions were conducted as part of the event, with the Chief Minister also participating in a football match, adding to the enthusiasm and spirit of the occasion.
