దేశంలోని యువత క్రీడా మైదానాలను ఎందుకు వదిలేసిందన్న అంశంపై ప్రతి ఒక్కరూ ఆలోచించాల్సిన అవసరం ఉందని ముఖ్యమంత్రి శ్రీ రేవంత్ రెడ్డి గారు అభిప్రాయపడ్డారు. యువతను సరైన మార్గంలో పెట్టకపోతే దేశం ప్రమాదకర పరిస్థితులకు నెట్టివేయబడుతుందని ఆందోళన వ్యక్తం చేశారు.
హైదరాబాద్ గచ్చీబౌలీ స్టేడియంలో తెలంగాణ పోలీసు శాఖ ఆధ్వర్యంలో జరుగుతున్న 74వ బోలానాథ్ ముల్లిక్ స్మారక ఆల్ ఇండియా పోలీస్ ఫుట్బాల్ చాంపియన్షిప్ 2026 ముగింపు కార్యక్రమంలో ముఖ్యమంత్రి గారు పాల్గొన్నారు.
ఈ సందర్భంగా దేశం నలుమూలల నుంచి వివిధ విభాగాలకు చెందిన పోలీసు క్రీడాకారులను ఉద్దేశించి ముఖ్యమంత్రి గారు ప్రసంగించారు.
“యువత నెమ్మదిగా క్రీడలకు దూరమవుతున్నారు. క్రీడా మైదానాలను వదిలిపెట్టి యువత తప్పు చేస్తున్నారు. దేశం కోసం ఏమైనా చేయడానికి మనందరం సిద్ధంగా ఉండాలి. యువత సరైన దశలో వెళ్లకపోతే భవిష్యత్తు ప్రమాదకరంగా మారుతుంది అని హెచ్చరించారు.
క్రీడాకారులను ప్రోత్సహించడానికి తెలంగాణ ప్రభుత్వం అన్ని విధాలుగా సిద్ధంగా ఉంది. క్రీడాకారులను తయారు చేసి దేశ ప్రతిష్టను నిలబెట్టాలి. యువతను క్రీడల్లో ప్రోత్సహించండి అని పిలుపునిచ్చారు.
భారత్ ఫుట్బాల్ చరిత్రలో హైదరాబాద్ నగరానికి విశేష పేరు ప్రఖ్యాతులున్నాయి. 1950-60 దశకంలో నర్సరీ ఆఫ్ ఇండియన్ ఫుట్బాల్గా హైదరాబాద్ పేరు గడించింది. దేశంలోనే ఫుట్బాల్ను అంతగా ఆదరించింది. 1956 ఒలంపిక్స్లో ఆడిన ఫుట్బాల్ జట్టులో ఏడుగురు క్రీడాకారులు హైదరాబాద్కు చెందిన వారే.
ఆ క్రమంలో ఆల్ ఇండియా పోలీస్ ఫుట్బాల్ చాంపియన్ షిప్ హైదరాబాద్లో నిర్వహించడం గర్వంగా ఉంది. ఈ క్రీడల నిర్వహణ ద్వారా తెలంగాణ రాష్ట్రానికి మంచి పేరు తెచ్చిన పోలీసు విభాగానికి మనస్ఫూర్తిగా అభినందనలు. దేశం నలుమూలల నుంచి ఈ క్రీడల్లో పాల్గొని అద్భుతమైన నైపుణ్యం ప్రదర్శించిన టీమ్లకు తెలంగాణ ముఖ్యమంత్రిగా అందరికీ అభినందనలు.
140 కోట్ల జనాభా కలిగిన భారత్ ఒలింపిక్స్లో కనీసం ఒక్క గోల్డ్ మెడల్ కూడా సాధించలేకపోవడం గురించి ప్రతి ఒక్కరూ ఆలోచించాలి. గతంలో ఇదే గచ్చీబౌలీలో ఎన్నో క్రీడలు నిర్వహించాం. గడిచిన కొన్నేళ్లుగా పట్టించుకోలేదు.
అంతర్జాతీయ స్థాయిలో క్రీడల్లో మనవాళ్లు ఓడిపోగానే కొద్దిరోజులు చర్చించి ఆ తర్వాత విస్మరిస్తున్నారు. యువత మాదక ద్రవ్యాల వలలో పడి నిర్వీర్యమైపోతోంది. వీరుల భూమి, ఎంతోమంది త్యాగధనులకు కేంద్రమైన పంజాబ్లో ఈరోజు మాదకద్రవ్యాల గురించి వినిపిస్తోంది.
అందుకే ఆలోచించి తెలంగాణ ప్రభుత్వం ఒక అడుగు ముందుకేసింది. ఎంతో మంది నిష్ణాతులతో కలిసి రాష్ట్రంలో యంగ్ ఇండియా స్పోర్ట్స్ యూనివర్సిటీని నెలకొల్పాం. క్రీడల్లో రాణించిన వారికి అన్ని విధాలుగా ప్రోత్సహించడానికి మా ప్రభుత్వం సిద్ధంగా ఉంటుంది.
సైబర్ క్రైమ్, మాదక ద్రవ్యాలతో సమాజంలో సరికొత్త సవాళ్లు ఎదురవుతున్నాయి. పోలీసు విభాగాలకు చెందిన క్రీడాకారులు మైదానాల్లో ఎలాగైతే ప్రతిభను, స్ఫూర్తిని కనబరిచారో సైబర్ క్రైమ్, మాదక ద్రవ్యాల నియంత్రణలో కూడా ప్రతిభను కనబరచాలి.. అని ముఖ్యమంత్రి గారు నొక్కి చెప్పారు.
మార్చి 25 నుంచి ఏప్రిల్ 5 వరకు జాతీయ స్థాయిలో నిర్వహించిన ఈ చాంపియన్ షిప్, ముగింపు కార్యక్రమంలో మంత్రి వాకిటి శ్రీహరి గారు, డీజీపీ శివధర్ రెడ్డి గారు, తెలంగాణ స్పోర్ట్స్ అకాడమీ చైర్మన్ శివసేనా రెడ్డి గారు, సీఐడీ డీజీ శిఖా గోయల్ గారు, ఆల్ ఇండియా పోలీస్ స్పోర్ట్స్ కంట్రోల్ బోర్డు డైరెక్టర్, ఇంటెలిజెన్స్ బ్యూరో స్పెషల్ డైరెక్టర్ స్వప్న తివారి గారు, తెలంగాణ పోలీస్ అకాడమీ డైరెక్టర్ అభిలాష బిస్త్ గారు, సైబరాబాద్ సీపీ రమేష్ రెడ్డి గారితో పాటు ఇతర ఉన్నతాధికారులు పాల్గొన్నారు.
ఈ సందర్భంగా ముఖ్యమంత్రి గారు స్వయంగా మైదానంలో మ్యాచ్ ఆడి క్రీడాకారులను ఉత్సాహపరిచారు. ఈ చాంపియన్షిప్లో ప్రతిభ కనబరిచిన టీమ్లకు ట్రోఫీలను అందించారు.
Once a hub of sporting excellence, the nation’s youth drifting away from sports is a concern, Hon’ble Chief Minister Sri A. Revanth Reddy said, emphasizing that without proper guidance, the country could face serious challenges in the future.
The Chief Minister participated in the valedictory ceremony of the 74th Bolanath Mullick Memorial All India Police Football Championship 2026, organized by the Telangana Police Department at Gachibowli Stadium, Hyderabad.
Addressing police athletes from across India, he noted, “The youth are gradually drifting away from sports. By abandoning the playing fields, they risk missing opportunities to develop their potential. For the nation’s future, we must ensure young people are guided onto the right path.”
He assured that the Telangana government is fully prepared to support athletes, encouraging talent development to nurture sportspeople who can uphold the nation’s prestige, and called on everyone to inspire youth to participate in sports.
Highlighting Hyderabad’s football legacy, he said, “The city holds a distinguished place in Indian football history. During the 1950s and 60s, Hyderabad was renowned as the ‘Nursery of Indian Football’, fostering unmatched enthusiasm for the sport. Seven Hyderabad players represented India in the 1956 Olympics.”
“Hosting the All India Police Football Championship in Hyderabad is a matter of pride. Congratulations to the Telangana Police Department for organizing this event and to all teams that showcased their exceptional skills,” he added.
Reflecting on India’s sporting challenges, he said, “With a population of 1.4 billion, it is concerning that India has yet to secure even a single Olympic gold medal in football. Past events at Gachibowli were neglected in recent years, and international defeats are often quickly forgotten while youth fall prey to narcotics and other negative influences.”
To address this, the Telangana government has established the ‘Young India Sports University’ to train and support future champions.
He emphasized, “Athletes from the police department—who have already demonstrated skill and discipline on the field—must show the same dedication in combating cybercrime and narcotics.”
The championship, held from March 25 to April 5, was attended by Minister Vakiti Srihari, DGP Shivadhar Reddy, Telangana Sports Academy Chairman Shivsena Reddy, CID DG Shikha Goel, Director of the All India Police Sports Control Board and IB Special Director Swapna Tiwari, Telangana Police Academy Director Abhilasha Bisht, Cyberabad CP Ramesh Reddy, and other senior officials.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister personally stepped onto the field to play a match, boosting the athletes’ morale, and presented trophies to the teams that demonstrated exceptional talent.
