తెలంగాణ చరిత్రకు సజీవ సాక్ష్యమైన ఉస్మానియా యూనివర్సిటీ (Osmania University) ని ప్రపంచంలోనే ఒక అద్భుతమైన విద్యాలయంగా తీర్చిదిద్దాలని ముఖ్యమంత్రి శ్రీ రేవంత్ రెడ్డి గారు చెప్పారు. తెలంగాణ చరిత్రను నిక్షిప్తం చేసిన, తెలంగాణ పదానికే ప్రత్యామ్నాయంగా నిలిచిన ఉస్మానియా విశ్వవిద్యాలయ అభివృద్ధికి ఎంత చేసినా తక్కువే అవుతుందని అన్నారు.
వర్సిటీలో విద్యార్థుల కోసం నూతన హాస్టల్ భవనాలు, రీడిండ్ రూమ్ నిర్మాణాలకు శంకుస్థాపన, కొత్తగా నిర్మించిన దుందుభి, భీమ హాస్టల్ భవనాలకు ప్రారంభోత్సవం చేశారు. ఆర్ట్స్ కాలేజీ ఠాగూర్ ఆడిటోరియంలో జరిగిన సమావేశంలో సీఎంగారు మాట్లాడారు.
ఓయూను ఒక అద్బుతమైన వర్సిటీగా తీర్చిదిద్దడానికి ఇంజనీరింగ్ నిపుణులు, విద్యా శాఖ నిపుణలతో ఒక కమిటీని నియమించి సమగ్రమైన అంచనాలు రూపొందించాలని ఆదేశించారు. స్టాన్ఫోర్డ్, ఆక్స్ఫర్డ్ వర్సిటీల ప్రమాణాలను మించి ప్రపంచంతో పోటీ పడే విధంగా తీర్చిదిద్దడానికి ఎన్ని నిధులైనప్పటికీ ఇవ్వడానికి సిద్ధంగా ఉన్నామన్నారు.
ఉస్మానియా యూనివర్సిటీ కాలగర్భంలో కలవొద్దు. ఈ వర్సిటీ చరిత్రకు సజీవ సాక్ష్యంగా నిలవాలి. ప్రపంచ ప్రమాణాలతో అద్బుతమైన వర్సిటీగా రూపొందించడానికి ఏం కావాలో అడగండి. రాష్ట్ర సాధనలో ముందు భాగంలో నిలబడిన ఈ యూనివర్సిటీని గాలికొదిలేయడం సరికాదు.
వర్సిటీలు ఉద్యోగులు, అధికారులను ఉత్పత్తి చేయడానికి మాత్రమే కాకుండా తెలంగాణ పునర్నిర్మాణానికి అవసరమైన మేధాసంపత్తిని అందిస్తుందని ఆశిస్తున్నాం. వర్సిటీలు చదువులకు మాత్రమే పరిమితం కాకుండా పరిశోధనలకు వేదిక కావాలి. సైద్ధాంతికపరమైన భిన్నాభిప్రాయాలపై చర్చలు జరగాలి.
అధికారంలోకి వచ్చిన ఏడాదిలో 60 వేల ప్రభుత్వ ఉద్యోగాలను భర్తీ చేశాం. ఉపాధ్యాయ నియామకాల కోసం కేవలం 55 రోజుల్లో 11 వేల మంది టీచర్లను నియమించాం. వచ్చే ఆరు నెలల్లో ఇంకో 40 వేల ఉద్యోగాలను భర్తీ చేస్తాం. అధికారం చేపట్టి రెండున్నరేళ్ల కాలం నాటికి లక్ష ప్రభుత్వ ఉద్యోగాలను భర్తీ చేస్తాం. ప్రైవేటు రంగంలో వేల కోట్ల పెట్టుబడులను తేవడమే కాకుండా 1.5 లక్షల ఉద్యోగాలు ప్రైవేటు రంగంలో కల్పించాం.
అపోహలకు లోను కావద్దు. అనుమానాలు ఉంటే నివృతి చేస్తాం. అబద్దాలను నమ్మకండి. కొందరు జీర్ణించుకోలేక ప్రతిదానికి అడ్డుపడుతున్నారు. అలాంటి వారు తెలంగాణ సమాజానికి ముసుగేసుకున్న చెదల్లాంటి వారు. ఉస్మానియా వర్సిటీని ఉంచకూడదని, ఎవరూ చదువుకోవద్దని కోరుకునే వారు. 2034 నాటికి తెలంగాణ 1 ట్రిలియన్ డాలర్, 2047 నాటికి 3 ట్రిలియన్ డాలర్ల ఆర్థిక శక్తిగా ఎదగాలంటే మీరంతా చదువుకోవాలి. చదువు ఒక్కటే ఈ సమాజాన్ని మార్చగలదు..” అని ముఖ్యమంత్రి గారు సవివరంగా మాట్లాడారు.
రెండు దశాబ్దాల తర్వాత మొదటిసారి ముఖ్యమంత్రి గారు యూనివర్సిటీకి రాగా, ఈ కార్యక్రమంలో మంత్రి అడ్లూరి లక్ష్మణ్ కుమార్ గారు, సీఎం సలహాదారు వేం నరేందర్ రెడ్డి గారు, ఎమ్మెల్సీ ప్రొఫెసర్ కోదండరామ్ గారు, పలువురు ప్రజాప్రతినిధులు, యూనివర్సిటీ వీసీ ప్రొఫెసర్ కుమార్ మొలుగరం గారు, వివిధ విశ్వవిద్యాలయాల వైస్ చాన్సెలర్లు, ఆర్ట్స్ కాలేజీ ప్రిన్సిపాల్ ప్రొఫెసర్ కాశీం గారు, ఉన్నతాధికారులు, విద్యార్థులు పాల్గొన్నారు.
Chief Minister Shri A. Revanth Reddy stated that Osmania University, a living testimony to the history of Telangana, should be developed into one of the finest universities in the world. He emphasized that no matter how much is done for the development of Osmania University—which has preserved the history of Telangana and has become synonymous with the state itself—it will never feel like enough.
Along with laying the foundation stone for new hostel buildings and library reading rooms for students at Osmania University, the Chief Minister also inaugurated the newly constructed Dundubhi and Bhima hostel buildings. On this occasion, he addressed a gathering at the Tagore Auditorium of the Arts College.
He directed the Principal Secretary of the Education Department, Yogita Rana, to form a committee comprising engineering and education experts to prepare comprehensive plans and estimates for transforming Osmania into a world-class university. He announced that the government is ready to provide any amount of funding necessary to make the university globally competitive—aiming to exceed the standards of institutions like Stanford and Oxford.
“Osmania University should not fade into the abyss of time,” he said. “This university must remain a living testimony to our history. Ask what is needed to make it a world-class institution. It is unacceptable to allow such a significant symbol of the state’s achievements to fall into neglect.”
He added that universities should not merely produce employees and officials, but also serve as the intellectual foundation for the reconstruction of Telangana. “Universities should go beyond academics and become platforms for research, ideological debate, and technical discussions,” he said.
