ఖేలో ఇండియా, కామన్ వెల్త్, ఒలింపిక్స్ ఇలా ఏ పోటీలు నిర్వహించినా వాటిలో తెలంగాణకు అవకాశం కల్పించాలని తెలంగాణ స్పోర్ట్స్ హబ్ తీర్మానం చేసింది. రాష్ట్రంలో స్టేడియాల నిర్వహణ, వసతులు మెరుగుపర్చడం, కోచ్లు, ట్రైనర్లకు శిక్షణ, క్రీడా పాలసీలో వివిధ అంశాలపై ప్రణాళిక రూపకల్పన, అమలుకు సబ్ కమిటీల ఏర్పాటు చేయాలని బోర్డు తీర్మానాలను ఆమోదించింది.
హైదరాబాద్ లో జరిగిన స్పోర్ట్స్ హబ్ ఆఫ్ తెలంగాణ పాలక మండలి తొలి సమావేశంలో పాల్గొన్న ముఖ్యమంత్రి శ్రీ రేవంత్ రెడ్డి గారు మాట్లాడుతూ.. జాతీయ, అంతర్జాతీయ స్థాయిలో క్రీడా విధానం, క్రీడల ప్రోత్సాహం విషయంలో ప్రతి ఒక్కరూ హైదరాబాద్ గురించి మాట్లాడుకోవాలనేదే తన లక్ష్యమన్నారు. క్రీడా ప్రపంచానికి హైదరాబాద్ వేదికగా మారాలని ఆకాంక్షించారు.
తెలంగాణకు ఐటీ సంస్కృతి ఉందని, రాష్ట్రంలోని ప్రతి కుటుంబం తమ పిల్లలు ఐటీ రంగంలో ఉండాలని కోరుకుంటున్నారని, ఆ తరహాలోనే క్రీడా సంస్కృతి రావాలని తాను అభిలషిస్తున్నట్లు ముఖ్యమంత్రి గారు తెలిపారు. క్రీడా రంగం ప్రోత్సాహానికిగానూ గతంతో పోల్చితే 16 రెట్లు బడ్జెట్ పెంచామని చెప్పారు.
జాతీయ, అంతర్జాతీయ స్థాయిలో రాణించిన క్రీడాకారులకు ప్రోత్సాహాకాలు ఇవ్వడంతో పాటు ప్రభుత్వ ఉద్యోగాలు కల్పించాం. క్రీడా రంగం ప్రాధాన్యతను పెంచేందుకు యంగ్ ఇండియా స్పోర్ట్స్ యూనివర్సిటీ (Young India Sports University) ని ఏర్పాటు చేశాం. హైదరాబాద్తో పాటు తెలంగాణ వ్యాప్తంగా పెద్ద ఎత్తున స్టేడియాలు, అధునాతన పరికరాలు అందుబాటులో ఉన్నా ఆశించిన స్థాయిలో ఫలితాలు లేవు.
వాటిని సమగ్రంగా సద్వినియోగం చేసుకోవడంతో పాటు క్రీడా రంగంలో తెలంగాణను అగ్రగామిగా నిలిపేందుకు బోర్డు తగిన కార్యాచరణ ప్రణాళిక రూపొందించాలి. క్రీడా రంగం అభివృద్ధికి నిధులు, నిపుణులు, నిర్వహణ అవసరమైనందునే బోర్డులో ప్రముఖ కార్పొరేట్లు, క్రీడాకారులు, క్రీడా నిర్వాహకులకు చోటు కల్పించాం.. అని ముఖ్యమంత్రి గారు వివరించారు.
ఈ సమావేశంలో స్పోర్ట్ హబ్ చైర్మన్, ఆర్ పీ సంజీవ్ గోయెంకా గ్రూప్ చైర్మన్ డాక్టర్ సంజీవ్ గోయెంకా (Sanjiv Goenka) గారు, హబ్ కో-చైర్ పర్సన్ ఉపాసన కొణిదెల (Upasana Konidela) గారు, సభ్యులు, ఇండియా క్రికెట్ టీమ్ మాజీ కెప్టెన్ కపిల్ దేవ్ (Kapil Dev) గారు, ప్రముఖ షూటర్ అభినవ్ బింద్రా (Abhinav Bindra) గారు, ధాని ఫౌండేషన్ వీతా ధాని (Vita Dani) గారు, బ్యాడ్మింటన్ క్రీడాకారుడు పుల్లెల గోపీచంద్ (Pullela Gopichand) గారు, విశ్వ సముద్ర ఫౌండేషన్ చింతా శశిధర్ (Chinta Shashidhar) గారు, క్రీడా నిర్వాహకులు బియ్యాల పాపారావు (Papa Rao Biyyala) గారు, ఫుట్ బాల్ టీమ్ మాజీ కెప్టెన్ భైచుంగ్ భూటియా (Bhaichung Bhutia) గారు, ప్రముఖ వాలీబాల్ క్రీడాకారుడు రవికాంత్ రెడ్డి (Ravikanth Reddy) గారు, ఏఐపీఎస్ – ఏసియా వైఎస్ ప్రెసిడెంట్ సబా నాయకన్ (Saba Nayakan) గారు క్రీడాభివృద్ధికి తీసుకోవలసిన చర్యలపై వారి వారి అభిప్రాయాలను వెల్లడించారు.
ఈ సందర్భంగా ముఖ్యమంత్రి గారు స్పందిస్తూ, ఇప్పటి వరకు ఉన్న క్రీడా పోటీల విధానాన్ని మార్చుతూ గ్రామ, మండల, శాసనసభ నియోజకవర్గ స్థాయి పోటీలు నిర్వహిస్తామన్నారు. శాసనసభ నియోజకవర్గ స్థాయిలో విజేతలుగా నిలిచిన జట్ల మధ్య పార్లమెంట్ నియోజకవర్గ స్థాయి పోటీలు నిర్వహించి అంతిమంగా రాష్ట్ర స్థాయి పోటీలు నిర్వహించి రాష్ట్ర స్థాయి జట్లను ఎంపిక చేస్తామన్నారు.
క్రీడా సామగ్రిపై ఉన్న పన్నుల తగ్గింపునకు కేంద్ర ప్రభుత్వంతో మాట్లాడతామని, రాష్ట్ర స్థాయిలో అవసరమైన ప్రోత్సాహాకాలు అందిస్తామని తెలిపారు. స్పోర్ట్స్ యూనివర్సిటీలో ఫిజియోథెరపీ, ఇతర క్రీడా సంబంధిత కోర్సులు ప్రవేశపెడతామని చెప్పారు.
స్టేడియాలు పెద్ద సంఖ్యలో ఉన్నా తగిన సంఖ్యలో కోచ్లు లేరని, ఉన్న కోచ్లకు అంతర్జాతీయ స్థాయి ప్రమాణాలకు తగినట్లు శిక్షణ ఇప్పించాల్సి ఉందన్నారు. రానున్న మూడేళ్లలో మనం సాధించాల్సిన లక్ష్యాలపై బోర్డు తగిన కార్యాచరణ రూపొందించాలని ముఖ్యమంత్రి గారు సూచించారు.
సమావేశంలో క్రీడా వ్యవహారాల శాఖ మంత్రి వాకిటి శ్రీహరి గారు, ప్రభుత్వ ప్రత్యేక ముఖ్య కార్యదర్శి జయేష్ రంజన్ గారు, తెలంగాణ స్పోర్ట్స్ అథారిటీ ఛైర్మన్ శివసేనా రెడ్డి గారు, ఎండీ సోని బాల దేవి గారు పాల్గొన్నారు.
The Telangana Sports Hub has resolved to make Telangana a hub for hosting major sporting events such as Khelo India, Commonwealth Games, and even the Olympics. The Governing Council passed resolutions to constitute sub-committees for the management of stadiums across the state, upgrading sports infrastructure, training coaches and trainers, and planning and implementing key aspects of the state’s sports policy.
Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri A. Revanth Reddy, who participated in the first meeting of the Telangana Sports Hub Governing Council in Hyderabad, stated that his vision is for Hyderabad to become synonymous with sports policy, promotion of talent, and sporting excellence at both national and international levels. He expressed his desire to see Hyderabad emerge as a global platform for sports.
The Chief Minister said that just as Telangana has built a strong IT culture where every family aspires for their children to enter the IT sector, he envisions a similar sports culture across the state. To achieve this, the sports budget has been increased 16 times compared to earlier allocations.
He highlighted that the government has been providing incentives and government jobs to sportspersons excelling at national and international levels. Further, the Young India Sports University has been established to strengthen sports education and opportunities. While Telangana already has world-class stadiums and modern facilities, the Chief Minister noted that results have not yet matched the state’s potential.
He stressed that the Sports Hub Governing Council must prepare a concrete action plan to maximize the use of existing infrastructure and position Telangana as a national leader in the sports sector. He explained that the inclusion of corporates, renowned sportspersons, and sports administrators on the board ensures access to financial resources, expertise, and professional management, all of which are critical for holistic development.
The meeting was attended by Sports Hub Chairman and RP Sanjiv Goenka Group Chairman Dr. Sanjiv Goenka, Co-Chairperson Smt. Upasana Konidela, former Indian Cricket Captain Kapil Dev, Olympic medalist Abhinav Bindra, Dhani Foundation’s Vita Dani, badminton legend Pullela Gopichand, Vishwa Samudra Foundation’s Chinta Shashidhar, sports administrator Papa Rao Biyyala, former football team captain Bhaichung Bhutia, volleyball player Ravikanth Reddy, and AIPS–Asia President Saba Nayakan, among others, who shared their views on advancing the sports ecosystem in Telangana.
Responding during the discussions, the Chief Minister announced that sports competitions will be revamped with a new structure—beginning at the village level, progressing to mandal and legislative assembly constituency levels, then to parliamentary constituencies, and finally culminating at the state level to form Telangana’s representative teams.
He also assured that he would engage with the central government to reduce taxes on sports equipment and, at the state level, provide additional incentives. Physiotherapy and other sports-related academic courses will soon be introduced at the Sports University.
The Chief Minister pointed out that despite a large number of stadiums, there is a shortage of quality coaches. He emphasized the need to upskill existing coaches to international standards and directed the board to prepare a clear three-year action plan to achieve tangible goals.
The meeting was also attended by Sports Affairs Minister Shri Vakiti Srihari, Special Chief Secretary Shri Jayesh Ranjan, Telangana Sports Authority Chairman Shri Shivsena Reddy, and MD Smt. Soni Bala Devi.
