దివంగత నేత, ఉమ్మడి ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్ మాజీ ముఖ్యమంత్రి డాక్టర్ వైఎస్ రాజశేఖర రెడ్డి గారి ఆశయాలకు అనుగుణంగా ప్రాణహిత – చేవెళ్ల, ఎస్ఎల్బీసీ ప్రాజెక్టులను పూర్తి చేసి తీరుతామని ముఖ్యమంత్రి శ్రీ రేవంత్ రెడ్డి గారు ప్రకటించారు. తెలంగాణ రైతాంగాన్ని ఆదుకోవాలని గోదావరి, కృష్ణా నదులపై వైఎస్సార్ గారు తలపెట్టిన ప్రాజెక్టులను పూర్తి చేయడమే కాకుండా వారి జీవితంలోని చివరి కోరిక నెరవేర్చే వరకు విశ్రమించకుండా పని చేస్తామని స్పష్టం చేశారు.
డాక్టర్ వైఎస్ రాజశేఖర రెడ్డి మెమోరియల్ అవార్డు 2025 కార్యక్రమంలో ముఖ్యఅతిథిగా ముఖ్యమంత్రి గారు పాల్గొన్నారు. ఈ కార్యక్రమంలో ఉప ముఖ్యమంత్రి మల్లు భట్టి విక్రమార్క గారు, మంత్రి దుద్దిళ్ల శ్రీధర్ బాబు గారు, హర్యాన మాజీ ముఖ్యమంత్రి భూపిందర్ సింగ్ హుడా గారు, ఎమ్మెల్సీ, పీసీసీ అధ్యక్షుడు బొమ్మ మహేష్ కుమార్ గౌడ్ గారు, మాజీ మంత్రి రఘువీరా రెడ్డి గారు, మాజీ ఎంపీ కేవీపీ రామచంద్ర రావు గారు, ఏపీ పీసీసీ అధ్యక్షురాలు వైఎస్ షర్మిల గారు తదితరులు పాల్గొన్నారు.
ప్రకృతి వ్యవసాయ విప్లవ పితామహుడు, పద్మశ్రీ సుభాష్ పాలేకర్ గారికి, శ్రీ పద్మావతి వెంకటేశ్వర ఫౌండేషన్, కృష్ణ సుధా అకాడమీ ఫర్ ఆగ్రోఎకాలజీ వ్యవస్థాపకులు డాక్టర్ చదలవాడ సుధా గారు, డాక్టర్ చదలవాడ నాగేశ్వర రావు గార్లకు డాక్టర్ వైఎస్ రాజశేఖర రెడ్డి స్మారక తొలి పురస్కారాన్ని ముఖ్యమంత్రి గారు అందజేశారు.
ఈ సందర్భంగా ముఖ్యమంత్రి గారు మాట్లాడుతూ, “వ్యవసాయం దండక కాదు పండుగ చేయాలన్న వైఎస్ ఆలోచనలకు అనుగుణంగా రాష్ట్ర ప్రభుత్వం పనిచేస్తోంది. తెలంగాణ రైతాంగాన్ని ఆదుకోవాలని గోదావరి, కృష్ణా నదులపై తలపెట్టిన ప్రాజెక్టులను కచ్చితంగా పూర్తి చేసి తీరుతాం.
కాలిపోతున్న ట్రాన్స్ఫార్మర్లు, పేలిపోతున్న మోటార్ల కాలంలో బాధల నుంచి రైతులను కాపాడాలని 2007-08 లో ప్రాణహిత – చేవెళ్ల ప్రాజెక్టుకు వైఎస్సార్ పునరుజ్జీవం కల్పిస్తే తర్వాత ప్రభుత్వంలో రీడిజైనింగ్ పేరుతో తుమ్మిడిహెట్టి నుంచి ఆ ప్రాజెక్టును తప్పించారు.
రైతాంగానికి మేలు చేయాలని, చేవెళ్ల, వికారాబాద్, తాండూరు, కొంత కొడంగల్ ప్రాంతం చివరి ఆయకట్టు వరకు నీరివ్వాలన్న వైఎస్సార్ ఆశయానికి అనుగుణంగా తుమ్మిడిహెట్టి వద్ద ప్రాణహిత – చేవెళ్ల కడతాం. ఫ్లోరైడ్ మహమ్మారి నుంచి నల్గొండ ప్రజలను రక్షించాలని సంకల్పించిన ఎస్ఎల్బీసీ ప్రాజెక్టును పూర్తి చేస్తాం.
రైతునే రాజును చేయాలన్న ఆలోచనతో వైఎస్ గారు ముఖ్యమంత్రిగా బాధ్యతలు చేపట్టిన మరుక్షణం రైతాంగానికి ఉచిత విద్యుత్ కు సంబంధించిన ఫైలుపై సంతకం చేయడమే కాకుండా రైతులపై పెట్టిన కేసులను ఎత్తివేశారు. 1300 కోట్ల రూపాయల మేరకు రైతుల బకాయిలను రద్దు చేశారు. దేశంలో రైతులకు ఉచిత కరెంటు ఇవ్వాలంటే తప్పనిసరిగా వైఎస్సార్ను గుర్తు చేసుకోకతప్పని రీతిలో అందరి మదిలో వారు స్థానం పదిలం చేసుకున్నారు.
వైఎస్సార్ గారి ఆలోచనల కొనసాగింపుగా వారు ప్రవేశపెట్టిన ఫీజు రీయింబర్స్ మెంట్, రాజీవ్ ఆరోగ్యశ్రీలను తమ ప్రభుత్వం కొనసాగిస్తోంది. ఆరోగ్యశ్రీ పరిమితిని 10 లక్షల రూపాయలు పెంచాం. ఫీజు రీయింబర్స్ మెంట్ కొనసాగిస్తున్నాం. వైఎస్ ఆలోచన, వారి స్ఫూర్తితోనే దేశంలోనే మొట్ట మొదటిసారి రాష్ట్ర వ్యాప్తంగా 3.10 కోట్ల మందికి సన్నబియ్యం అందిస్తున్నాం.
రైతు సంక్షేమం కోసం అధికారంలోకి రాగానే 25 లక్షల మంది రైతులకు 20 వేల కోట్ల రూపాయల మేరకు రుణాలను మాఫీ చేసి విముక్తులను చేశాం. వరి వేసుకుంటే ఉరి వేసుకున్నట్టే అన్న రోజుల నుంచి వరి వేసుకోండి, బోనస్ ఇచ్చి మరీ కొనుగోలు చేస్తామని ప్రోత్సహించాం. ఈరోజు దేశంలోనే అత్యధికంగా 2.85 కోట్ల మెట్రిక్ టన్నుల వరి ధాన్యం పండించి మొదటి స్థానంలో నిలిచాం.
కేంద్ర ప్రభుత్వం సరిగా సహకరించని కారణంగా రాష్ట్రంలో యూరియా కొరత ఏర్పడి రైతులు ఇబ్బందులు ఎదుర్కొనే పరిస్థితులు వచ్చాయి. పాలేకర్ గారు సూచించినట్టు మార్గంలో రాష్ట్రంలో వ్యవసాయాన్ని ప్రోత్సహించడానికి ప్రభుత్వం అవసరమైన ప్రణాళికలు రచిస్తాం.
విద్యార్థి దశ నుంచి వైఎస్కు వెన్నంటి నిలిచిన మిత్రుడి కోసం కేవీపీ రామచంద్ర రావు గారు తన శక్తినంతా ధారపోశారు. వైఎస్ ఎన్నో కష్టాలను ఎదుర్కొన్న సందర్భంలో కూడా వారి వెంట నిటారుగా నిలబడ్డారు. వైఎస్ మరణించి 16 సంవత్సరాలు పూర్తయినా, వారిపై ఉన్న అభిమానంతో ఈ కార్యక్రమం నిర్వహించడం అభినందనీయం..” అని ముఖ్యమంత్రి గారు అన్నారు.
Hon’ble Chief Minister Sri A. Revanth Reddy announced that the Pranahita-Chevella and SLBC projects will be completed in line with the aspirations of the late leader and former Chief Minister of united Andhra Pradesh, Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy. He affirmed that the government will not only complete the projects envisioned by YSR on the Godavari and Krishna rivers to support Telangana’s farmers but will also work tirelessly until his unfulfilled dreams are realized.
The Chief Minister participated as the Chief Guest in the Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy Memorial Award 2025 program. Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu, former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, MLC and PCC President Bomma Mahesh Kumar Goud, former Minister Raghuveera Reddy, former MP KVP Ramachandra Rao, AP PCC President YS Sharmila and several others attended the event.
The first Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy Memorial Award was presented by the Chief Minister to Padma Shri Subhash Palekar, regarded as the father of the natural farming revolution, and to Dr. Chadalavada Sudha and Dr. Chadalavada Nageswara Rao, founders of the Sri Padmavati Venkateswara Foundation and Krishna Sudha Academy for Agroecology.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister stated, “The state government is committed to YSR’s vision of making agriculture a celebration rather than a burden. We will ensure the completion of the irrigation projects on the Godavari and Krishna rivers to support Telangana’s farmers. In 2007–08, YSR revived the Pranahita-Chevella project to relieve farmers from the distress of failing transformers and motors, but later it was sidelined under the pretext of redesigning. In line with his vision, we will construct the Pranahita-Chevella project at Tummidihetti and complete the SLBC project to provide safe drinking water to the fluoride-affected people of Nalgonda.”
The Chief Minister recalled that YSR, with the conviction of making farmers the backbone of the state, signed the file for free electricity for farmers on his very first day in office, in addition to withdrawing all cases filed against them. He also waived Rs. 1,300 crore worth of farmers’ dues. “If the nation remembers free electricity for farmers, it will always remember YSR who made it possible,” he noted.
Continuing YSR’s legacy, the Chief Minister said the government is upholding schemes such as Fee Reimbursement and Rajiv Arogyasri. The health insurance limit under Arogyasri has been enhanced by Rs. 10 lakh. With YSR’s inspiration, Telangana has also become the first state in the country to distribute fine rice (sanna biyyam) to 3.10 crore people.
For farmer welfare, the government has already waived Rs. 20,000 crore worth of loans for 25 lakh farmers. “From the days when paddy cultivation was seen as a curse, we have now transformed it into an opportunity by not only encouraging farmers to cultivate but also offering a bonus on procurement. As a result, Telangana has produced a record 2.85 crore metric tonnes of paddy, the highest in the country,” the Chief Minister said.
He added that despite challenges such as urea shortages caused by inadequate cooperation from the central government, the state will move forward with scientific plans, taking guidance from experts like Subhash Palekar, to promote sustainable agriculture.
The Chief Minister paid rich tributes to YSR’s long-time companion, KVP Ramachandra Rao, noting that he stood firmly by YSR through every challenge. “Even 16 years after YSR’s passing, the admiration and respect people continue to hold for him is evident in the organization of this program. It is indeed commendable,” the Chief Minister concluded.
