Sri Shekhar Prasad Singh, popularly known as S.P.Singh, is a 1983 batch IAS Officer. He was born in 1958 in Dumka in the then Bihar State - presently Jharkhand. His father is a renowned freedom fighter and was a senior civil servant.
Sri S.P.Singh has a Masters Degree from Delhi University and MBA from Swinburne University of Tech., Australia. Sri S.P.Singh worked as a Lecturer in Delhi University before joining the Indian Administrative Service. Sri S.P.Singh is a trained classical musician and a sportsman who represented the University and his State at National level in Cricket.
Sri S.P.Singh has had a distinguished career in civil service having worked as Municipal Commissioner, Visakhapatnam, Collector & District Magistrate of Nellore, Srikakulam and Kurnool districts in the combined State of Andhra Pradesh. He had also worked for a full tenure as Director in Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, GOI. He has worked as Secretary/ Prl.Secretary / Spl.Chief Secretary of several important departments like Women Development & Child Welfare, Consumer Affairs, Food & Civil Supplies, Agriculture & Cooperation, Tourism & Culture, Municipal Administration and Urban Development, Transport, Roads & Buildings and Revenue (CT&Excise) in the combined State of AP. He also worked as Special Officer and Commissioner of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation & Ex.officio Prl.Secretary, MA&UD Department. In Telangana State, he has worked as Spl.Chief Secretary, Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development & Fisheries Department and Special Chief Secretary, panchayat Raj, Rural Development and Rural Water Supply Department.
Presently, Sri S.P.Singh is the Chief Secretary to Government of Telangana. He is also looking after the posts of Spl.Chief Secretary, PR, RD & RWS Dept. and Chief Commissioner of Land Administration on full additional charge. He is also the Managing Director of Telangana State Drinking Water Supply Corporation Limited (Mission Bhagiratha) and Chairman of Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited.
